The first one is in the books! Wanderlight Wedding Photography could not have dreamt a more perfect first couple but I worry they may have set the bar too high. Their love is something special and it was obvious from the moment I first met them at Stem Cider to go over the details of their wedding. We clicked instantly, laughing about 90’s boybands over delicious drinks, and a friendship was born. Raquel and Derrick are as sweet as they are good-looking, seriously laid back, and hilarious. They will both say that it was pretty much love-at-first-sight and Derrick made that official with a proposal on Raquel’s birthday while on vacation in Italy, about a year after they met.
Their black-tie wedding at the beautiful St Francis of Assisi in Castle Rock, with its gorgeous vaulted wooden ceiling and stained glass windows, followed by a stunning and Christmasy reception at The Sanctuary south of Denver made for a magical celebration. It seemed as if the day flowed from one tender moment to the next. Derrick’s dad kept everyone laughing and crying right along with him throughout the day, but especially with his sweet toast. Raquel lost her dad years ago and honored him beautifully with charms on her bouquet and a touching dance shared with each of her four siblings. There was even an impromptu poetic reading from one of the groomsmen. I’m telling you, this group set the bar way up there. Jason Green with Elite Entertainment kept the dance floor jumping until it was time to move outside and send the newly weds off with sparklers and smiles.
I was honored to be a part of their perfect day and am grateful for their continued friendship. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Powers!!!
